Carlos Salinas Award Nominations Sought

Nominations are open through June 30, 2009, for the Carlos Salinas award, which recognizes a S.C. dentist who serves patients with special health care needs, the state Department of Health and Environmental Control announced. The award is named for Carlos Salinas, DDM, in recognition of his commitment to assisting people with special needs. Full Story

Neil Jordan's, Fine Dining & Fair Prices

| Two phrases that most of the time don’t go together are fine dining and fair prices. They are usually as alien to each other as the north is to the south. But in the case of Neil Jordan’s Restaurant they seem to complement one another perfectly. The upscale steak and seafood eatery opened in late 2008 just north of Hwy 41 in the Market at Oakland off 17 North and has become a regular dining spot for many East Cooper residents. We considered them average people because they identified with us. But when the media started to make politicians the mainstay of their broadcasts it became less desirable to appreciate elected officials. We began to learn too much.
